Agenda:
Numerical Study of Nonstationary Phenomena in Gyro-Oscillators
Speaker:
Alexej Grudiev

Abstract:
The possible applications of gyro-oscillators span a wide range from electron cyclotron resonance heating, current drive, and active plasma diagnostic measurements in the field of magnetic confinement fusion studies to advanced ceramic sintering, surface hardening, and dielectric coating of metals and alloys in materials processing technologies. For these applications, CW gyromonotrons that operate at both high frequencies (30-170 GHz) and high output power(up to 2 MW) are under development.
In this work, a time-dependent self-consistent multimode analysis of gyro-oscillators has been developed. The interaction between the modes operating at different harmonics of the cyclotron frequency, the influence of reflections on the gyromonotron operation, as well as nonstationary phenomena in a gyro-BWO have been studied demonstrating the importance of time-dependent self-consistent calculations. The numerical results are in good agreement with the experiments.
