Minutes of the CLIC Meeting - 13 February 2004

Agenda:
CLIC oriented analyses of TS-MME
Speakers:
G.Arnau Izquierdo, H.Neupert, S.Calatroni

Abstract:
The results of the Scannning Electron Microscopy and EDX of the Mo structure tested at SLAC in 2003 will be presented. In particular, the images reveal surface modifications with evident melting for the first iris. The roughness of the surface and porosity appears as quite important on the iris periphery, where the surface has been worked by grinding. In the context of the pulse surface heating expected for CLIC, laser induced surface fatigue on diamond worked Cu and Cu-Zr has been investigated. The images as a function of the number of shots clearly demonstrate the difference between the resistance to fatigue of Cu and Cu-Zr. The possibility to predict the effects on the material for the nominal CLIC temperature and number of pulses will be discussed.
