Minutes of the CLIC Meeting - 9 June 2006

Agenda:
Non-linear Optimization of the CLIC BDS
Speaker:
Rogelio Tomás

Abstract

The CLIC final focus system is designed based on the local compensation scheme proposed by P. Raimondi and A. Seryi. However, there exist remaining aberrations that deteriorate the performance of the system. An optimization algorithm has been developed based on the computation of the high orders of the transfer map using MAD-X and PTC. Its application to the CLIC BDS is presented.

Rogelio presented his non-linear optimization of the BDS (optimization of multipoles, focussing and dispersion) that led to a total luminosity increase of 72% compared to the previous design.
His work is also published in CLIC note 659 (pdf format)
copy of Rogelio's transparencies (pdf format)

Alexandra Andersson showed a computer animation movie of the bunch combination in the Delay Loop and the Combiner Ring.
Due to the large file size (>300MB) it is not possible to put it here for download. Please contact her directly for a copy.
