CERN - European Organization for Nuclear Research

Minutes of the CLIC Meeting - 23 June 2006

Agenda:
The PHIN Photoinjector for the CTF3 Drive Beam
Speakers:
Graeme Hirst (CCLRC/RAL)  and Roberto Losito (CERN)

Abstract

The photoinjector for the CTF3 drive beam is being built by a collaboration among LAL, RAL and CERN. LAL designed the RF gun and built a prototype to verify the design, and is now building the final gun. CERN will provide the photocathodes and is responsible for integration and commissioning. CCLRC has designed and is assembling the laser.
We will present the status of the various components, with a particular focus on laser developments.

Graeme
gave an overview on the Photoinjector Laser for CTF3. He recalled the layout of the system, presented the status of the different components and further plans.
A point to mention is that the present system has a fixed 140ns switching time that can only be modified by changing fibers for the delay.

Roberto showed the photoinjector specifications and design and presented the work on the photocathodes and the RF gun.
