Minutes of the CLIC Meeting - 29 September 2006

Agenda:
The E166 Experiment - Polarized Positrons for the ILC
Speaker:
Jan Kovermann  /  RWTH Aachen

Abstract

The E166 experiment at SLAC is a proof-of-principle experiment for a new type of positron source. A helical undulator delivers circularly polarized photons which are then converted into polarized positrons by pair production in a thin target. This talk will show the main principle of the experiment and then focus on positron polarimetry and its preliminary results.
