Status
of the Precision Beam Position Monitor (PBPM) for EUROTeV
The
design of a
new Precision Beam Position Monitor (PBPM) foreseen for
the next generation of linear colliders has been completed. The PBPM is
based on a design already used in CTF3 and aims for a resolution of
only 100 nm in a range of ±0.5 mm, with an aperture of
6 mm, and
a bandwidth extending from 100 kHz to 30 MHz.
This talk will focus in presenting the final design of the PBPM, giving
an overview of the key design points which have been studied and
summarizing the results of the microwave simulations. In addition, the
present status of the assembly, the bench tests and the CTF3 beam tests
in 2007, will be discussed.

Discussion
- Three PBPMs are foreseen to be mounted over a short distance in CTF3
with the centre one movable by a precision mover. A mover
suitable for a high radiation environment has to be selected.
- Due to the small aperture (60 mm diameter), the optics has to
be studied at the suitable places (i.e. girder 14 or INFN chicane
bypass) with the given longitudinal extension for the 3 PBPMs.
- The vacuum chambers around the installation should be prepared
sufficiently early. The INFN chicane bypass would require the addition
of a dump window and a possible modification of the present beam
stopper.
- Magnetic interference for mounting at quadrupoles has not yet been
studied.
Status
of the Wall Current Monitor (WCM) design for EUROTeV
In order to
resolve accurately
bunches with a spacing of 67 ps foreseen for the CLIC drive beam
and
CTF3, a Wall Current Monitor (WCM) is needed having a bandwidth of
20 GHz and a low frequency cut-off of 100 kHz. The state of
the art of
the WCM design, characterization and test bench improvement will be
discussed, as well as some thoughts for the beam tests foreseen in CTF3
in autumn 2007.
