Minutes of the CLIC Meeting - 24 June 2005

Agenda:
Pressure Distribution Calculations for CLIC Accelerating Structures
Report from RF'05 workshop, Kalamata, June 13-17
Speakers:
Pedro Costa Pinto, Erk Jensen, Alexej Grudiev

Pedro presented Pressure distribution calculations for the PETS system and the accelerating structure.
The vacuum network was modelled by an electric circuit analogy to allow easy analysis by PSpice. The 30 GHz accelrating structure and half of the 30 GHz waveguide were modelled. For the static vacuum distribution, the ratio of the vacuum in the structure and the waveguide was comparable to measured values, though the level was 20x lower in the simulation indicating that the assumption of a well baked system is too optimistic.
Then the transient behaviour for single and repetitive sparks was modelled. The vacuum levels are much too low in the simulation but the time constant is of the correct order of magnitude.
In order to proceed the comparison to experimental data, a higher acquisition rate is needed, the Penning gauge used is not fast enough. The installation of a different gauge is feasible for the 2nd run this year.
