Tenth CTF3 Collaboration Meeting

The 10th CTF3 collaboration meeting was held at CERN on 29th and 30th November 2005.

Most collaborating institutes were represented: Ankara University, many groups from CERN, CIEMAT (Spain), DAPNIA (Saclay), LAL (Orsay), LAPP (Annecy), INFN (Frascati), North Western University (Illinois), RAL (Oxford), Royal Holloway University (London), SLAC (Stanford), and Uppsala University.

The major milestones for this year, the installation of the Delay Loop and routine operation of the facility as a 30 GHz RF power source, have been achieved: First results of the Delay Loop commissioning were presented and very encouraging results were already obtained in the 30 GHz test stand with conditioning of CLIC accelerating structures.

In 2006 the major activity will be the construction of the Combiner Ring and the associated transfer line.  This programme is well on track, assuming that all expected contributions can be obtained.

For the programme in the years from 2007 onwards, collaboration partners have taken the responsibility for many items, however several components are not yet covered. This concerns, in particular, parts of the CLEX complex.

In parallel the construction of a photo injector, largely funded by the European Union, is advancing well.  Tests at CERN will start in summer 2006.

The CTF3 collaboration is entering a new phase with the signature of its Memorandum of Understanding defining the scope of the collaboration.  The first meeting of the CTF3 Coordination Committee was held immediately after the Collaboration Meeting on 30th December 2005.  Nine members have already signed the MoU and the associated Addendum which defines each partner’s responsibility. Four more are expected to sign before the end of 2005.
