The ninth CTF3 collaboration meeting was held at CERN from 23rd to 25th November 2004. All collaborating institutes participated: LAL (Orsay), LNF (Frascati), RAL (Oxford), SLAC (Stanford), North Western University (Illinois) and Uppsala University.
On 19th May 2004 a CLIC Collaboration meeting was called by the CERN DG with the aim to widen the collaboration. Work packages were presented to participants with the aim to find partners taking the responsibility for a whole or part of a package. The aim is to establish a collaboration which should allow to answer - by 2009- the major outstanding feasibility issues for CLIC. As a consequence, new potential partners - Ankara University and Gazi University (Turkey), CEA (Saclay) and CIEMAT (Spain) – participated for the first time and presented subjects of a possible collaboration. Many of the proposed topics are, however, still subject to approval by the respective funding agencies.
In addition, many CERN groups made important contributions.
The meeting has shown the impressive progress on all activities thanks to a very dynamic collaboration.
The two highlights from the 2004 commissioning were:
- the 30 GHz RF production in the newly installed test stand in the linac and
- the bunch length manipulation with the chicane installed by LNF.
The major milestones for 2005 are the installation and commissioning of the 1.5 GHz sub-harmonic bunching system and the Delay Loop, as well as 30 GHz high power RF testing of CLIC accelerating structures.
The design and layout studies for the future installations (Delay Loop, Photo Injector, CLEX) are well advanced and hardware design and prototyping is continuing. The production of many components is on the way.
